    Do we need to hire a webmaster to maintain our website?

    No. Your web solution comes complete with management software that enables anybody in your office to maintain the website. Or, if you prefer, we can update the content for you. We also take care of all the technical duties of a classic webmaster.

    What is WebBridge™?

    WebBridge™ is our “beyond content management” software that allows your staff to efficiently manage the company website. Besides the functionality one would normally expect from a content management system, it offers many specialized features to make managing your website easy, safe, and efficient.

    Do we need to install any software?

    WebBridge™ is a purely web-based application, residing entirely on our servers and does not need to be installed on your computers. However, it requires a specific web browser software, called Mozilla. The installation is very simple and fast, and we provide everything you need.

    Does WebBridge™ work on a Mac or Linux PC?

    Yes! WebBridge™ is a true cross-platform solution, running on Windows 98 or newer, Mac OS X, Linux, and many other operating systems you may have never heard of.

    Do we need high speed connection to use WebBridge™?

    No, but it is recommended for increased productivity. WebBridge™ is designed to be very fast, so it can be used comfortably over a dial-up connection. Of course, it will be even faster over a high speed connection.

    We want several members of our staff to manage various areas of our website. Do we need additional licences?

    The basic licence allows up to five users. You can upgrade your licence at any time to increase that limit so that you can have as many members of your staff as you need using WebBridge™. Each user’s access rights can be restricted to only the operations they are supposed to perform.

    We have multiple offices. Do we need additional licences?

    No, you don’t need additional licences. You are allowed to access WebBridge™ from anywhere in the world, even from outside your offices. You can log in from your hotel room or even from the beach. All you need is your laptop and an Internet connection.

    How many people can use WebBridge™ at the same time?

    As many as needed. There is no restriction for the number of simultaneous connections and all of them can safely work on their tasks, just as if each were the only one active.

    What training or skills are needed to use WebBridge™?

    Only basic computer operator skills are needed. Anyone who can properly edit a document in Word or other text processor has all the skills required. Based on these skills, we provide the training needed to make your staff comfortable using WebBridge™.

    What exactly can we change on the website?

    Almost anything you would have a reason to change. To keep the web maintenance tasks simple and safe, the content on each page is split into several content elements that can be edited independently from each other and from the layout of the page.

    Can we put files on our website, so that our clients can download them?

    Yes. The friendly file manager integrated in WebBridge™ allows you to upload files to the server and organize them. Then you can place links to these files on any page, allowing your website visitors to download them.

    How many pages can we add to our website?

    As many as you need. While you can use the unlimited number of pages to expand your website, a huge page count is usually a sign that you could really use one or more specialized modules. These are designed to simplify the management of large volumes of information and provide additional functionality that cannot be achieved by simply adding more pages.

    How many menu items and levels can we have?

    As many as you need. If you have a very large and complex navigational system, make sure it is very well organized in a logical structure that makes it natural and easy to follow. If you need help with organizing the information on your website, we will be glad to assist you.

    Can we copy & paste text from our documents onto the website?

    Yes. You can copy & paste text from and to any other application.

    How long it takes for the changes we make to become visible on the website?

    Usually, the changes you make become visible as soon as you hit the ‘Apply’ button. For improved performance, our software uses a caching mechanism, which may cause a small delay in making the changes visible. The cache life can vary between a few seconds and several minutes, and during this time the previous version of the content may remain visible on the website.

    What is scheduled content, and what does it do for us?

    Scheduled content is one of the innovative features introduced by XENTAGE™. It allows you to create special versions for any content element, and schedule their visibility on the website. This means you can prepare those special offers, new product announcements or seasonal information well in advance and let the software take care of switching them on or off, at exactly the right moment. In other words, it increases productivity and lowers the possibility of errors.

    Can we make our website more accessible for users with disabilities?

    Yes, our software allows you to attach alternate text to all visual elements, which is arguably the most important step in making your website accessible for the visually impaired. Also, the page code generated by our software is extremely friendly to special browsers, that read the content of each page for the visually impaired.

    Do we have access to edit the meta tags and other search engine stuff?

    Yes, for each and every page.

    Do we have access to traffic statistics?

    Yes, our RealTraffic reports provide you with real data in real time. The traffic coming from search engine bots or other automated software is separated from the one coming from human visitors, giving you a much clearer image on your website traffic. And the reports are generated in real time, with just the information you request. We can also install a third party traffic monitor, such as Google Analytics.

    Why would we need specialized modules?

    The specialized modules are designed to simplify the management of large volumes of information and provide additional functionality that cannot be achieved by simply adding more pages. If your staff spends a lot of time doing a few tasks again and again, or if the number of pages seems to grow out of control, you should consider one or more specialized modules for better efficiency.

    How well can an out-of-the-box solution fit my needs?

    XENTAGE™ websites are entirely custom. While most components are already built, each and every one of them needs to be configured or customized to fit your specific needs. By developing most components in advance, and by making them as flexible as possible, we can offer you a custom solution that is as reliable and cost effective as an off-the-shelf one.

    But we have really unique project requirements...

    Most requirements can be satisfied by customizing and expanding the existing specialized modules. When that is not achievable, we can always develop a new module from scratch. While this is a more expensive option, it is still very cost-effective, due to the unique software architecture XENTAGE™ solutions are based on.

    Can we install third-party software on our website?

    No, unless we specifically recommend it and offer to install it for you. Installing third-party software, either server-side or client-side, represents a security and performance risk we are usually not willing to take.

    Can we link to third-party software hosted somewhere else?

    You are free to link to any web location you want, be it a website or a web application.

    How will we manage the data for the specialized modules?

    All the management tasks are performed from WebBridge™, within the same interface and with a single log in. Actually, the design and features of all management screens are very similar. Keeping it all consistent makes it very easy to learn and work with new modules.

    Can our website be integrated with our existing software/databases?

    Most likely. It all depends on the characteristics of the software or databases we need to integrate with, and on whether or not the benefits of such a solution can justify the development costs. This is a decision that needs to be made on a case by case basis, but usually it is possible and feasible.
