The Client
Trading Places Home Decor sells fine quality furnishing on consignment.
The company was borne in 2003 in an industrial warehouse. Today, Trading Places Home Decor is located in an upscale 4000 square foot showroom in Oakville, Ontario.
The Challenge
The client asked us to re-develop their website to help them:
- improve the efficiency and quality of their client service
- help increase sales by selling the consigned items faster
In order to achieve these primary objectives, their website needed to:
- always display up-to-date information about the items currently in store
- provide efficient navigation and easy-to-use search tools for product information
- help build strategic partnerships with complementary businesses
- reposition and enforce the Trading Places Home Decor brand
The Solution
We developed a new website with an on-line product catalogue at its core. The solution includes:
- Redesigned image and message, better suited for the target market
- Restructured website navigation for improved usability
- WebBridge content management system
- Specialized catalogue module with automated new-arrival and featured product listings, user-friendly price inquiry system, viral marketing tools and internal search engine
- Specialized articles module for easy management of an article archive containing home decor tips and suggestions.
- Specialized advertising module with activity reports, to offer more prominent exposure to complementary businesses.
- Automated, self-serve on-line subscription management system to build and maintain the e-mailing list for the company newsletter.
The Results
During the first 3 months after the website relaunch:
- Store sales increased 11%, year over year total for the 3 months period
- The number of monthly inquiries for product price and details quadrupled, and almost all are now sent directly from the website (and received via e-mail).
